Piper longum (Long Pepper) is one of the common herb and has been extensively used as an important constituent of various indigenous medicines, specifically in traditional Indian medicinal system known as Ayurveda and Siddha.
Pharmacological Activities: The pharmacological properties of this plant include anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, anti-platelet, anti-hyperlipidemic, analgesic, antidepressant, anti-amoebic, anti-obesitic, radio-protective, cardio-protective and anti-fungal activities. It is widely used as an important constituent in various Ayurvedic medicines to cure diseases like leprosy and tuberculosis and also used in the treatment of cough, dysponea, cardiac and spleen disorders, chronic-fever, gout, and rheumatic pain.
Therapeutic Uses: சுவையின்மை (Tastelessness), இரைப்பு (Asthma), இருமல் (Cough), ஐயப்பிணி (Diseases due to deranged Kapahumour), கண் காது மூக்கு நோய்கள் (ENT diseases), குன்மம் (Painful gastro intestinal disorders with indigestion).
Dosage: After morning & night food, take 1/4 teaspoon (1g) powder mix with honey or boiled water & drink (or) as directed by physician.
